Bail Verification and Supervision Program
The Bail Verification and Supervision Program provides community supervision to eligible individuals who do not have the financial or social supports to meet bail requirements. Prospective clients are interviewed in the holding cell at the courthouse to determine eligibility.
The Bail Verification and Supervision Program serves two principles upon which our democratic justice system is based:
the presumption of innocence before conviction;
the fair equitable treatment of all people regardless of social and economic background.
The Bail Verification and Supervision Program puts these principles into practice on behalf of people accused of criminal offences.
If release is approved by the court, clients report weekly or as directed to have their conditions monitored. The Waterloo Region Bail Program is currently serving Waterloo Region with offices in Cambridge and Kitchener.
